Paisa in flavour and heard nationwide. ¡Qué chimba! for good news, una chimba de carro for a great car. But *qué chimbada* or *me vale chimba* run negative, so the same root goes both ways.
Chimba is crude in origin, but Colombian usage flipped it into high praise. The sense now depends entirely on the sentence.
Vulgar at the root. Fine with friends, risky at work or with someone’s parents — use *bacano* or *chévere* there instead.
