About Lingo
Lingo is a tutor you talk to out loud. It knows how people actually speak in real cities, corrects you the way a friend would, and remembers what you got wrong so it can bring it back.
Why it exists
Most apps teach the language from the textbook. Then you land in Mexico City, Bogotá or Buenos Aires and nobody talks like the textbook. People say ¿qué onda?, parce or che, and the app never mentioned them.
Lingo starts from the other end: the way people talk in a real place, out loud, with the slang and the shortcuts. Grammar comes along, but it isn't the point.
How it works
- You talk, it answers. Speak (or type) and the tutor replies out loud in the language you're learning.
- It corrects you in the moment. When you slip, it gives you the better way to say it, then keeps the conversation going.
- It remembers your slips. With an account, the mistakes you made come back in later sessions until they stick.
- Pick the place, not only the language. Spanish comes in city flavors like Mexico City, Bogotá and Madrid. 28 languages in any pair.
- The slang is written ahead of time. Our slang dictionary and lessons are prepared in advance, not made up by the AI mid-conversation.
Honest about the AI
The tutor is an AI. It is good at conversation and patient at 2 a.m., but it can still get things wrong. If it ever teaches you something that sounds off, tell us and we will fix it.
What it costs
You can talk for free, with no account, to see if you like it. The free plan has a few short sessions a day. Plus is $12.99 a month or $89.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial for new members, and you can cancel anytime. Details are on the pricing page.
Your privacy
We don't keep your voice recordings: each clip is deleted once it has been turned into text. Saving your chat history is off unless you turn it on. We never sell personal data. The full details are in the privacy policy.
Who makes it
Lingo is made by Kaiava, a small independent studio. No investors and no ads inside the app.
