The guy — English "man", absorbed into Colombian Spanish.
Used for any male third party whose name you don’t need: *el man de la tienda*, the guy at the shop. Very common in Bogotá and Medellín. For a woman, speakers reach for *la vieja* or *la man*.
Straight from English, taking a Spanish article: *el man*, and the plural *los manes*.
Casual and a bit dismissive — fine for strangers, not for someone you’re meant to respect.
Reading a definition isn't the same as saying it to someone. Lingo Kaiava is a voice tutor set to Colombian Spanish — it uses el man / la vieja the way locals do, corrects you in the moment, and never "fixes" the way real people actually talk into textbook Colombian Spanish.
