How it's actually used

A high compliment in Antioquia: a berraco is someone who works relentlessly and does not quit. "Qué berraquera" means how amazing. But "estar berraco" means to be furious, and "una berraquera de problema" means a serious mess. Tone carries all of it.

Examples

Where it comes from

From "verraco," a breeding boar. The animal is stubborn and formidable, and so is the compliment.

Before you say it

Same word, opposite meanings. Read the face before you decide you were complimented.

Now actually use it out loud

Reading a definition isn't the same as saying it to someone. Lingo Kaiava is a voice tutor set to Colombian Spanish — it uses berraco the way locals do, corrects you in the moment, and never "fixes" the way real people actually talk into textbook Colombian Spanish.
