The truth / for real / seriously?
Works as a question ("¿neta?" = for real?), as an assertion ("es la neta" = it's the truth), and as a compliment for a person ("eres la neta" = you're the best). Extremely common among younger Mexicans.
From "neto," meaning net or pure — as in the pure truth, with nothing added.
Argentina says posta, Chile says la firme, Spain says en serio.
Reading a definition isn't the same as saying it to someone. Lingo Kaiava is a voice tutor set to Mexican Spanish — it uses neta the way locals do, corrects you in the moment, and never "fixes" the way real people actually talk into textbook Mexican Spanish.
