Awesome / jackpot / no way — the all-purpose Korean exclamation.
Said on its own as a reaction to anything impressive, shocking, or absurd — good or bad. It also works as a noun for a huge hit: a drama that does well is a 대박. You will hear it constantly in variety shows.
Literally "big gourd." A folk tale has a gourd split open to reveal treasure, so 대박 came to mean a windfall.
Informal. Fine with friends and anyone younger, but not something you say to a boss or an elder — Korean speech levels matter more than word choice.
