How it's actually used

The default informal word for money: *no tengo guita*, I’m broke. Alongside it *un mango* means a single peso, so *no tengo un mango* is "I don’t have a penny", and *luca* is a thousand.

Examples

Where it comes from

Lunfardo. Probably from an old Spanish word for twine — the string that tied a purse.

Before you say it

Casual. In a bank or a contract you want *dinero* or *plata*.

Now actually use it out loud

Reading a definition isn't the same as saying it to someone. Lingo Kaiava is a voice tutor set to Argentine Spanish — it uses guita the way locals do, corrects you in the moment, and never "fixes" the way real people actually talk into textbook Argentine Spanish.
