How it's actually used

Adds emphasis and nothing else. "Ya pe," "sรญ pe," "vamos pe." It is one of the fastest markers of Lima Spanish and, like Chilean po, is almost impossible to misuse.

Examples

Where it comes from

Worn-down "pues," the same way Chile's "po" came about.

Before you say it

Do not mix it with Chilean "po." Same origin, different countries, and locals notice instantly.

Now actually use it out loud

Reading a definition isn't the same as saying it to someone. Lingo Kaiava is a voice tutor set to Peruvian Spanish โ€” it uses pe the way locals do, corrects you in the moment, and never "fixes" the way real people actually talk into textbook Peruvian Spanish.
