Dude / idiot — Chile's most flexible and most dangerous word.
Between close friends, weón is a comma. It can mean dude, guy, thing, or nothing at all, and a single sentence may contain it three times ("oye weón, ese weón es weón" — hey man, that guy is an idiot). It also functions as a real insult and as a verb, "weviar," meaning to mess around.
From "huevón," from "huevo" (egg, and by extension testicle). Written weón, hueón, or wn in texts.
Genuinely crude and much sharper than Mexico's güey. Do not use it with people you have just met, with anyone older, or at work. Understand it first; use it much later.
